Content Area SWAT Teams

An instructional facilitator is a school leader who is dedicated solely to helping teachers implement effective instruction. Each MCS school has its own instructional facilitator who is a part of the leadership team under the principal and assistant principals. A school’s instructional facilitator is an expert in instructional practices but only has content knowledge in the subject they previously taught. The content area SWAT teams are teams of experienced instructional facilitators that float between all of the SSZ schools providing additional support in literacy, math and science. Each SWAT team instructional facilitator is an expert in one of these three critical subject areas and provides additional support to teachers who have content specific questions, but teach a subject different from their instructional facilitator’s area of expertise. SWAT team coaches provide extra support to teachers in all areas involving effective instruction focusing on grades 3-8 including creating model lesson plans, developing individualized professional development, assisting with observations, technology integration and demonstrating effective teaching practices.
