Timelines
The application process consists of the application submission, application screening, the initial interview, submission into the new teacher pool and school site interviews.
January 1, 2008 – June 8, 2008
Applicants for the 2008-2009 school year are encouraged to submit their
application during this time period to ensure there is enough time to be
interviewed and submit the documentation for hire. Applications submitted after 6/1/08 will be processed as needed.
1 week after submission
Applicants should begin requesting official copies of transcripts and compiling other required documentation.
1-2 weeks after submission
Applicants will be notified via e-mail of their application status. This process may take slightly longer for former MCS employees and during peak processing times. Successfully prescreened applicants will be invited to submit materials to enter the new teacher pool or to sign up for an initial interview with the district to be considered for new teacher pool admission.
1-6 weeks after positive notification
Selected applicants attend an interview day.
1 week after interview day
Selected applicants are invited to join the new teacher pool. Candidates who do not meet our rigorous criteria will also be notified at this time.
Within 3 weeks of invitation to join the pool
Applicants are required to submit all required documentation.
Within 1 week of document submission
Applicants will be notified of receipt of documents and their placement in the new teacher pool.
May 15 – September 15
Hiring for permanent positions the following school year generally takes place during these months. There are a number of factors that affect the availability of vacancy information such as the timing of teacher retirements, previously unannounced resignations, placement of internal candidates and certification issues. Because the Human Resources Department cannot completely control when this information is available, the arrangement of school site interviews can take time. We will be in ongoing communication with New Teacher Pool candidates via e-mail to provide status updates and other pertinent information throughout the spring and summer.
