These two items are not required of transfer applicants, but we highly encourage their submission. The resume and letter of intent will help give principals and hiring teams a better idea of your experience and workstyle to determine if you are a good fit for their buildings so that you have the best opportunity to improve student achievement by working in an environment where you thrive.
The voluntary transfer period for elementary and K-8 positions is February 16-23. We will also hold a voluntary transfer period for positions on the secondary grade level in late March.
Transfer applicants are interviewed by principals based on those who have been teaching longest in MCS. If teachers with more seniority have also shown a preference for the positions you have selected, you may not be contacted by the principal to interview, or there may be a delay in being invited to interview until more senior candidates have been interviewed.
While charter schools are part of Memphis City Schools, charter teachers are ineligible for participation in the district voluntary transfer process. Charter school teachers interested in working with Memphis City Schools are encouraged to apply using a regular application found HERE.
