Transfer Qualifications

Before considering a transfer out of their buildings, teachers should be certain to review the requirements for transferring:

• Teachers may not transfer if they are filling a position for a teacher on leave. 
• Teachers may not transfer if they are up for tenure in the 2012-13 school year, which will typically apply to teachers currently in their fourth year of teaching but can apply to other teachers.  If a decision to grant you tenure will be made next school year, you must remain in your current position.
• Teachers must hold full teaching certification (Apprentice or Professional) or a Transitional license. Any teacher with a Permit is ineligible to transfer. Please click HERE to review your certification status on the Tennessee Department of Education’s Educator Licensure Information website.
• Teachers who were deemed non-reelect by their principal are ineligible to transfer.
• Any teacher in one of the district’s Striving Schools Zone (SSZ) schools who accepted a voluntary transfer position in the past three years—2009, 2010 or 2011— is ineligible for participation.  Any teacher in any other non-SSZ school who accepted a voluntary transfer position in the past two years – 2010 or 2011 – is ineligible to transfer.
• Any teacher whose position was surplussed and recently signed an Employee Status Change form is eligible to participate.
