Becoming Eligible for Additional Subject Areas
One of the best ways to improve your hiring chances is by becoming eligible for additional hard-to-staff subject areas. We anticipate having a significant number of openings in the subjects below and encourage you to take the Praxis II content knowledge exam in one or more of these subjects so we can add them to the list of courses you are eligible to teach. - English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Math
- Middle School subjects
- Special Education
- Gifted
- Instrumental Music: Strings
- Foreign Languages (Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Russian, and Japanese)
If you are a certified teacher, you must:
- Take and pass the Praxis II exam for the subject area you wish to add
- Submit an Additional Endorsement Application to the Tennessee Department of Education in order to have your new endorsements added to your Tennessee license
- Send a copy of your Praxis II score report and Additional Endorsement Application to Teach Memphis in order to have these new areas added to your eligibility list
Please use the Teach Memphis recipient code 1827 when registering for the Praxis II and your scores will be mailed to our office about a month after you take the exam. You can also fax or mail scores and applications to us at the locations listed on our contact page Additionally, we encourage you to send an email to Teacher Pool Manager Jamie Heath once you submit your endorsement application to the Tennessee Department of Education so that he can add your additional subject areas to your application.
If you are a non-certified alternate route applicant, simply have your Praxis scores sent to us using the Praxis recipient code 1827. You can also fax or mail scores to us at the locations listed on our contact page. Additionally, we suggest that you send an email to Teacher Pool Manager Jamie Heath once you have once you have sent us your Praxis scores so that he can add your additional subject areas to your application.
