All eyes are on Memphis. As one of only three districts in the nation and a coalition of charter schools awarded a Gates Foundation Intensive Partnership grant for its Teacher Effectiveness Initiative, Memphis City Schools has an unprecedented opportunity to close the achievement gap by ensuring that every student is taught by an effective teacher every day, every year.
Our city’s future is directly tied to the education our children receive. With access to high-quality learning experiences, our students’ lives will be enriched, and our city will be transformed. Memphis City Schools is seeking the top teacher talent in the nation to join us in this groundbreaking movement.
If you are a certified teacher, a recent college graduate or a successful professional, we invite you to learn more about teaching in Memphis City Schools. We anticipate positions in all subject areas and grade levels in the 2010-11 school year. We expect a strong need for teachers in math, chemistry, art, Spanish, ESL, band and special education. Certified teachers can apply today to be considered for positions for the 2010-2011 school year.
Non-certified teachers interested in teaching high-need subjects (math, chemistry, foreign languages, special education and middle school) can apply today through the Memphis Teaching Fellows program at www.memphisteachingfellows.org.
The new application for non-certified teachers interested in teaching will launch mid-February, 2010. If you have any questions, please contact our office at info@teachmemphis.org.
